Once upon a story

It's crazy how much writing can change in a couple of years! The first two paragraphs were written around October 2023, before I'd truly begun to delve into the craft of writing and paying attention to the words I was putting down on the page. I've learnt a lot since then, and it shows in the following extract, which I wrote in October 2025. Of course, there's plenty of room to improve and I encourage any sort of feedback. These two extracts are the beginnings of the same scene, though it's evolved greatly. It marks the near beginning of an ongoing story idea I've been working on for a couple of years now, and since it's popped into my head, so many plotlines and characters and kingdoms have sprung to life in my head that it's gone from one book to a potential four book series!  Hey, I'm Esme  Rose , an aspiring romantasy writer. I'm starting up this blog in order to document my writing journey. It'll definitely be interesting to look back and see what's changed! My current project - while I won't disclose too much - is one I've been working on for a couple of years now. Creating the worldbuilding, characters, and plot has been an effort at times, but one that I've enjoyed every second of - and still am. There's always more to do, more to learn, more to discover. This idea has a place very close to my heart, and I fully intend to keep working on it until its book worthy, whether that be in five or ten years from now. While nervous, I'm equally excited for when it's ready, and I can share it with the world.  I may be posting extracts of that project, or other pieces, both ongoing and finished.
